Arrests in Stabbing Incident

On 9/17/10, at approximately 10:45 PM, police responded to a reported stabbing incident that occurred on a parking lot adjacent to the Baxter County Fairgrounds. Baxter County Sheriff’s deputies were detaining the suspect in the incident prior to officers arriving.

The 17 year old female of Mountain Home was taken into custody and transported to the police department for questioning by a criminal investigator. The stabbing victim, 20 year old Darrell J Owens of Mountain Home, was transported by ambulance to Baxter Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The investigation revealed that the juvenile and Mr. Owens were both passengers in a vehicle parked on the parking lot. During a verbal argument between the two, Owens struck the juvenile and then the juvenile stabbed and cut Owens, causing injury to his left arm. The altercation continued after the two subjects exited the vehicle. It is also reported that injuries to Owens may have occurred once they exited the vehicle.

The juvenile was turned over to Baxter County Juvenile Services, after being originally charged with;

  • Battery 2nd, a Class D Felony; formal charges by warrant are currently in process

Darrell J Owens was charged with;

  • Battery 3rd, a Class A Misdemeanor
  • Public Intoxication
