Arrests: Church Burglary and Theft of Property

Two suspects were arrested pursuant to an investigation into the burglary and theft of property from a local church. The burglary and theft of property occurred on 7-3-11 resulting in the theft of items that totaled $2,500 in value. Charges were filed on the following individuals.

Joey David Chapa, 38 of Mountain Home, was arrested 8/25/11 and charged with Commercial Burglary, a class C felony and Theft of Property, a class D felony. Chapa is a former youth minister at the church. He was incarcerated into the Baxter County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.

Steven M Berkhahn, 23 of Mountain Home, was arrested on 8/24/11 and charged with Commercial Burglary, a class C felony, and Theft of Property, a class A misdemeanor. Berkhahn was incarcerated into the Baxter County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.

Both suspects have been involved in numerous other crimes and were arrested by the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office.
