08/21/09---High Risk Event Planning II: Sponsored by Midwest Counterdrug Training Center (MCTC). The course covers the following areas: Equipment considerations, briefing presentation skills, intelligence gathering for high risk operations, risk analysis and threat assessment, command post considerations, S.I.P.R.E.E.D.D. ”a high risk event planning system”, medical considerations for high risk operations, and a scenario: teams assign, develop, and brief high risk event plans (a practical exercise).

08/06/09---Kristin Laurite Major Case Conference: Sponsored by Arkansas State Police, Twin Lakes Retired Police Officer's Association, and ASUMH. The conference included presenters from law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation of major criminal cases from across the country.

06/12/09---Interview/Interrogation: Sponsored by Midwest Counterdrug Training Center (MCTC). The course included instruction on verbal and non-verbal techniques that show signs of deception and techniques used in obtaining a confession.

06/11/09---Rapid Response to Active Shooter: Sponsored by MHPD. Officers from several law enforcement agencies attended the training session. The training objective is to provide skills in responding to an active shooter situation in the school environment.    

5/22/09---Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT)-Train the Trainer: Sponsored by ALERRT. The course is a train the trainer certification program. The ALERRT Active Shooter course trains first responders in basic tactical skills to safely and effectively respond to, address, and stop an active shooter.

5/15/09---DWI/DUI Conference: Sponsored by Arkansas Safety Office and Criminal Justice Institute. The course included instruction on new laws and prosecution strategies.

5/14/09---ACIC Conference: Sponsored by Arkansas Crime Information Center. The course covered the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) updates and program changes.

05/05/09---Investigating Indoor Grow: Sponsored by Arkansas State Police. Class instruction included investigative methods, product yield, product value, and indoor marijuana grow vs. outdoor grow operations.

5/1/09---Law Enforcement Refresher Class: Sponsored by Black River Technical College. The class is a refresher course on law enforcement and updates officers on the latest law and procedures for law enforcement officers.

4/17/09---Advanced Law Enforcement Dispatch: Sponsored by University of Central Arkansas and PowerPhone. Class instruction included gathering critical details on any law enforcement incident, passing information to responding officers, and giving options to callers in need of immediate help. Particular type of incidents covered include identifying gunshots, hysterical callers, anonymous callers, customer service tips, assault, robbery, motor vehicle accidents, domestic violence, simultaneous emergencies, officer safety, motor vehicle stops, officer down, suspect and vehicle descriptions, prioritization, common call types, and bomb threats.

4/8/09---Arkansas Underage Drinking Prevention Conference: Sponsored by the Fayetteville Police Department. The conference included a variety of topics including, nuisance abatement, S.A.D.D., how to spot fake I.D.s, and Project Graduation.

4/2/09---Policing People with Mental Disorders: Sponsored by the Criminal Justice Institute. The program covered the topics of identification of mental illness, officer safety issues, interventions and commitments.

1/14/09---The Complete Traffic Stop & Interview: Sponsored by Harrison PD. Class instruction included roadside interviewing, detection of evidence, and signs of deception.

1/9/09---Taser Recertification: Sponsored by Lakeview PD. The recertification class was held to update officers on the proper use of tasers.

11/20/08---Warrantless Search and Seizure: Sponsored by the Arkansas Municipal League. Class instruction included current law on warrantless search and seizure and its application during operations. 

11/12/08---Local Law Enforcement Sex Offender Management: Sponsored by Arkansas Crime Information Center. Information was received about an ongoing project that will automate the processes involved with sex offender management and expand services available to the community. Work is also underway to revamp the state sex offender website to allow for offender address mapping and registration for sex offender notifications to the community.

11/6/08---Arkansas Wireless Information Network (AWIN Radio): Sponsored by Baxter County Office of Emergency Management. Class instruction covered the use of the statewide radio system by emergency responders.

10/29/08---Computer Forensics Conference: Sponsored By the Training Company. The conference included forensic information on computers, cell phones, and steganography (Today, the term steganography includes the concealment of digital information within computer files).

The program for Self-Defense Instructor Development has been assembled on the basis of research provided from a variety of self-defense sources, in conjunction with personal experiences as a long time trainer and practitioner of confrontational strategies. The program's primary focus is the realistic development of self defense options for women, before and during situations of imminent or actual abductive assault.

06/16/09---Racial Profiling: Sponsored by MHPD. The training objective is officer adherence to department policy and applicable law. 

06/11/08---Transporting Children With Special Health Care Needs: Sponsored by the Arkansas Children's Hospital. The purpose of the training is to provide certified child passenger safety technicians with an overview of issues related to transporting children with special health care needs. The technician can play an important role in facilitating proper occupant protection for the child.

06/06/08---Narcotics Officer Certificate Program: Sponsored by the Criminal Justice Institute. The objective of the program is to provide law enforcement officers with the knowledge and skills they need to conduct a basic narcotics investigation. The current program consists of five three-day sessions that are delivered over the course of five months. Following a comprehensive introduction to Arkansas Narcotics Enforcement and State Drug Laws, program content includes Drug Identification and Classification, Methamphetamine, Drug Endangered Children, Managing Informants and Cooperative Witnesses, Search and Seizure, Investigative Techniques, Pharmaceutical Diversion, Evidence Collection, Report Writing, Surveillance, Resources, Intelligence, Criminal Defenses, and Courtroom Testimony.

04/18/08---Special Weapons  and Tactics Course: Sponsored by the Independence County Sheriff's Department. The course provided tactical training for high risk operations by the special response team.

04/04/08---Internet Crimes Against Children Undercover Chat: Sponsored by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. The course teaches law and procedures reference undercover chat stings aimed to identify and arrest internet predators of children. 

02/25/08---Violence in Schools: Sponsored by Arkansas Safe Schools Association. The training included instruction on how to conduct threat assessments and the detection of warning signs.

01/30/08---Terminal Operations Recertification:  Officers, communicators, and administrative personnel certified to operate Arkansas Crime Information Center (ACIC) computers completed recertification training. Approved ACIC terminals are located in the communications center, police department, and police vehicles. The training included utilization of proper procedures and applicable law. The terminals allow the department to obtain timely information on vehicle registration, driver’s license, wanted persons, stolen property, messaging between law enforcement agencies, etc.
