Act 1207 of 2003 established law reference racial profiling. The act created a task force, requires each law enforcement agency to create a written policy prohibiting racial profiling, and mandates annual training in addition to other requirements. The act is codified as ACA 12-12-1401 through 12-12-1404. Subsequent law passed encourages law enforcement agencies to keep the community informed of the department's racial profiling policy. The following information is provided concerning this department's adherence to racial profiling laws.
Training is conducted annually on racial profiling.
MHPD Policy prohibiting racial profiling is Bias-Based Policing and Racial Profiling Section 100, Pages 100.1-100.8 of the Mountain Home Police Department Policy and Procedures Manual.
The policy has been submitted to the Division of Legislative Audit for review.
The policy has been submitted by the Division of Legislative Audit to the Office of Attorney General.
A letter dated May 12, 2008 from the Assistant Attorney General, contains the following statement, "it appears that your policy complies with the requirements of Act 1207."
